Gateway Crossing Park

Gateway Crossing Park is the dynamic public-realm centerpiece of this emerging Gateway Crossing development, a new transit-oriented district located between Santa Clara’s CalTrain/BART Station, San Jose International Airport, and PayPal Stadium.

The park design is inspired by the pre-development oak savanna that extended throughout the Santa Clara Valley.  Set within this urban canopy are flowing multi-use lawns and native-focused gardens that engage and activate picnic areas, a park café, a dog run, an explorational play area, and a shade pavilion that will host community events and activities such as movies in the park.  At the explorational play area, natural materials and features such as logs, rocks, ropes and hills provide a sensory connection to nature that encourages children to use their imaginations to make their own play.  The park’s diverse destinations are comfortably integrated into a cohesive design structure that enhances the overall park experience.  The park was programmed and designed through extensive community engagement, in collaboration with the Parks & Recreation Department, and offers a welcoming blend of recreation and relaxation for the surrounding neighborhood and beyond.
